Sentinel is an application monitoring tool that provides the following main features and benefits:

• Helps to quickly identify the source of application code errors during development, debugging and testing of internally developed software by acting as a centralized log repository and notification agent - when an error occurs, information on the cause of the problem is sent to the developer to help decrease resolution times.
• Helps to maintain and improve overall application quality through notification of error details as they occur even when the problem is not reported by the end-user.
• Reduces system and server downtime by promptly notifying responsible parties of a failure so that corrective measures can be taken
• Decreases troubleshooting time by allowing applications to report events (exceptions) and messages in a central repository and by notifying responsible personnel when an event is reported.
• Executes defined tasks on the monitored servers based on an event or based on a schedule.

Monitoring can occur on the application server, database server, web server or e-mail server. Notifications are sent by e-mail and/or phone and are assigned a priority level based on the severity of the error.
