To allow for maximum flexibility, maintainability, reusability and scalability, the Customer Service Portal contains multiple layers. Application components providing similar tasks are grouped into one layer. The layers are grouped into a hierarchy of layers, with the components of one layer using the services provided by its own layer or the layer below it. The below diagram summarizes the technology used in each layer.
